When air is blocked in your ducts, it will back up into the supply plenum. This can increase the temperature inside the plenum, causing the limit switch to go off (as above), and it can also decrease the efficiency of your system because your air handler will have to work harder to push air into the plenum.
Features. Galvanized steel construction. Diffuser-aluminum color finish. Egg crate return. Available up to 25 tons. Custom options available.
A supply air plenum is a sheet metal box that attaches to the outlet of a furnace, air handler, or A/C coil and is used as a central manifold for other ductwork or take-offs to connect to (see P. 162 & P. 164). Such a design allows creating a static pressure, which is necessary for the system of ductwork to hold in all elements of the system equal quantity of airflow. HVAC Calculations and Duct Sizing Gary D. Beckfeld, M.S.E., P.E. COURSE CONTENT 1. Heat Conduction and Thermal Resistance For steady state conditions and one dimensional heat transfer, the heat q conducted through a plane wall is given by: q = kA(t1 - t2) L Btu hr (Eq.1) Where: L = the thickness of the wall in inches

Flow velocity in air ducts should be kept within certain limits to avoid noise and unacceptable friction loss and energy consumption. Low velocity design is very important for the energy efficiency of the air distribution system. Doubling the duct diameter reduces the friction loss by factor 32. air velocity calculator; Low and Medium Pressure ...
Menards® offers a wide range of ductwork pipe and fittings to help your ductwork systems run efficiently. These products are used for warm air return, supply, and exhaust systems. Flexible duct can be installed in place of galvanized pipe in many applications if allowed by your local HVAC codes. The ductwork that distributes the heated or cooled air to individual rooms of the house connects to the plenum. The HVAC equipment has a blower that forces heated or cooled air into the supply plenum and from the plenum into the rooms through the supply duct system.
Apr 09, 2013 · When the combustion air duct is connected directly to the return plenum for a furnace, the blower fan on the furnace pulls outdoor air in to the return plenum. To supply this air to the furnace room, a supply register is added at the ductwork in the same room, typically right above the furnace.Ifa pdf
